I actually ended up using both and i ll explain why in a second.
Can you use heat transfer vinyl on painted canvas.
My heat press has a 15x15 plate.
I had never tried using heat transfer vinyl on a canvas before i was missing out.
First up though canvases have some give to them so you ll need to put something under it so that you can push down in the middle of.
In my experience htv is way better on canvas than adhesive vinyl.
Now grab your canvas.
Seriously the easiest and fastest way to make signs and ahem why the small heat press is my favorite.

But with a canvas there is a little give when you push on it and you want to be able to push firmly.
The canvas i used was 24x18 so it fit perfectly on the plate and allowed the top plate to close down.

So if you want a longer lasting canvas project i would use heat transfer vinyl on canvas.
Weeded and ready for placing on your canvas.
The best part is that heat transfer vinyl is easy to add to a reverse canvas.
After several months i find that the adhesive vinyl will start to pull away from the canvas.
Cut and weed the heat transfer vinyl.
Since it transfers with heat the vinyl can melt into the canvas and adhere better.
I think it was a beautiful addition to the wedding and it was such a sweet personal touch that didn t cost too much money.
